When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Volunteered & Requested Data

1.       While interacting with our social media channels a user may send Harris personal information to enter a competition, enquire about a product or service or seek help from us. In these situations, Harris will use personal data responsibly to resolve the user’s enquiry and then remove that data after the matter is resolved and in line with our GDPR commitments. All data will be stored on a secure server controlled by Harris, our parent company Orkla, or by our data processor.

a.       Example A. Harris have run a competition on a Harris owned social channel and the winner has been contacted. Harris will request the personal data necessary to send the prize to the winner.

b.       Example B. A user has contacted Harris with a product enquiry. Additional information is needed by the Care team to resolve the enquiry. All data is held securely by Harris until the enquiry is resolved and our GDPR obligations have been fulfilled, at which point it will be permanently deleted.

2.       In some situations, Harris may ask for permission to use personal information in our marketing activities. In these situations, an informal discussion may take place between Harris and the individual or group where upon Harris will ask the individual or group to review our privacy policy prior to sending written consent for the data to be held. Data could include names, company names, emails, contact numbers and image data. If consent is given this data is held on a secure server controlled by Harris, our parent company Orkla, or by our data processor.

a.       Example A. Harris have contacted an influencer via a social media direct message and have asked permission to use some of the influencers copywritten content under certain conditions, a link to the influencers social channel may be provided when the content is used. Harris provide a link to this document and when the influencer is satisfied the data will be handled appropriately, they agree via the direct message conversation. Harris then log their agreement and the content to which they have agreed to share in a secure location on the Harris server. The content and any other user details agreed to are then shared through Harris marketing channels.

b.       Example B. An end user shares a written story with a Harris social channel or in a Facebook group to which Harris have access. Harris approach the user privately and ask for permission to use their comments and name as a testimonial. The user is provided a link to this document and after reading agree to let Harris use their statement. The statement, a name and other personal details may be taken depending on the situation, the user would volunteer this information to Harris. All the data gathered would then be stored in a secure location on the Harris server and the statement used in Harris activity as per the agreement.
